Oil Spill Abatement

Environmental protection and preservation of existing natural resources is Harbor Star's concern. Together with the major oil companies in the country, she has established a project called Waterbone Industry Spill Equipment (WISE). It is to safeguard our marine resources against oil spills and other destructive chemicals that may pollute the seas and shores of the Philippines.

Harbor Star has successfully responded to the largest oil spill in the Philippine maritime history when the Company's specialized oil tugs were commissioned to disperse the oil coming from the tanker "Solar I" which sank in Guimaras, Iloilo, Philippines. Harbor Star deployed 1.2 kilometers of oil spill booms to barricade and to protect the fish sanctuary in the area.

Harbor Star contributes to the global effort protecting the environment most especially in the seas and all that belongs to her. Indeed, a priceless endeavor, for the sea is our heritage that will be passed on to our children and generations beyond, definitely a "WISE" decision.

Chemical Recovery

Harbor Star responded to the sinking of the passenger and cargo vessel "Princess of the Stars" when it capsized along the coast of Sibuyan Island, Romblon when it sailed during the height of Typhoon Frank. She was commissioned to remove the hydrocarbons and retrieval of the hazardous and noxious substance that were on board the vessel.
